About Riley Green
Riley Green’s music career began some time after his stint as a Division I FCS Quarterback for Jacksonville State University. Green was a starting member of the team when he decided to take part on the CMT reality show, Redneck Island. At the time, he released a self-titled EP in 2013, which he followed with additional EPs in 2015, 2016, and 2017. These EPs and his growing fame led to him signing a deal to the Big Machine Label Group.
This led to green’s music being discovered by major outlets, including Billy Dukes of Taste of Country who reviewed his single “There Was This Girl”. The review was favorable, comparing its theme to Chris Cagle’s “Chicks Dig It” while pointing out Green’s more traditional country music sound. The song went on to chart on the Country Airplay charts and a music video was then shot in October 2018. In addition, “There Was This Girl” went on to chart well in the US and Canada with a #11 peak in the US Country Songs chart and a #1 peak on the CAnadian Country Songs chart. The song also became a Platinum certified single by the RIAA.
The following year saw Green release two more singles and his debut album. The singles, “In Love by Now” and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” both found success with the former peaking at #52 on the US Country Airplay chart and the latter peaking at #12. In addition, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” became platinum certified by the RIAA.
His debut album was released on September 20, 2019 and was followed by an Academy of Country Music award for New Male Artist of the Year.
